The Seghers Collection, on permanent loan to UVic Libraries, is housed in Special Collections. This unique book collection compiled by former Bishop of Vancouver Island, Charles Jean Seghers (1839-1886) reflects his broad interests in philosophy, ethics, psychology, Roman history and drama, science, and music. It is also one of the best collections in North America of early books on Catholic theology and church history, canon law, liturgy and ritual, canonization and monasticism.
