Permalink 01/19/12 15:11 , Categories: Uncategorized

As part of UVic Libraries' lecture series on collectors and the joy of collecting, Ron Greene will speak on the "accidental collector". A lifelong resident of Victoria, his business career was spent with Capital Iron which was started by his father in 1934 and which he ran until 1997. His interests outside of work include local history, numismatic history, and heritage buildings.

He was awarded the Heritage Canada Regional Award of Honour in 1982 for the restoration of the Capital Iron facades and was the recipient of the Royal Canadian Mint Medal for Numismatic Education in 1991. In 2010 he was recognized as a Distinguished Alumni for the Faculty of Humanities.
