Meet Robbie Mattu | Map Library Assistant

Lost your bearings? Navigate your way to the Map Library and say hello to Robbie Mattu, McPherson Library’s new Map Library Assistant.

Robbie came to UVic Libraries from the Vancouver Public Library where he worked in Special Collections as a Library Technician and from Langara College, where he held positions as Copyright Officer and Instructional Assistant in the Library Technician Program. With a Library Technician Certificate, BA Anthropology (SFU) and MA in Environment & Management (RRU), Robbie’s expertise is wide-ranging.

And as a recreational sailor, the map library’s nautical charts are some of his favorite resources. “Nautical charts are beautiful – and they help you avoid rocks.” says Robbie.

For help finding nautical charts and other maps, check out these tips on our website under “How to find maps”.

Coming soon in the map library this month: new atlases to help you chart a course through the semester. Stay tuned for:

The Atlas of Coasts and Oceans: Mapping the World's Marine Areas

Atlas of World History: Global Events at a Glance

Historical Atlas of Washington and Oregon

And visit Robbie: He’ll set you in the right direction.
