UVic's subscription to IEEE Xplore now includes the Draft Standards add on package.
This means the University of Victoria faculty, researchers & students can see a standard before it is published to help facilitate early compliance and implementation - and gain an early understanding of standards under development and get advanced insight into solutions and practices being proposed.
This add on package makes IEEE Xplore include:
Unapproved Drafts—a combination of revisions of previous standards and brand new ideas that are still in the standards development process
Approved Drafts—awaiting standard publication (it usually takes 3 to 6 months for approved standards to be published)
Approved and Archived Standards — that have been superseded by a published standard provide the complete history of a standard’s evolution
See http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/Xplore/accessinfo.jsp for more information.

"Seymour Schulich has made his latest eye-catching contribution to Canadian universities, announcing a $100-million scholarship program to encourage students in Canada and Israel to study" STEM subjects. Schulich's "name is already on schools at several Canadian universities thanks to generous donations, but he will now directly fund promising students entering the 'STEM' subjects in an effort to help mould them into 'pioneers' of global research and innovation. Once fully implemented in 2014, the program will provide 75 students annually with Schulich Leader Scholarships, worth $60,000 over four years and open to any high school or CEGEP graduate in Canada or Israel entering a STEM subject."
